Remembering Those We’ve Lost

Deborah “Debbie” Lee Lawrence, a cherished member of our community, passed away on August 2, 2022, at the age of 69. Debbie was more than just a graduate of the Atlanta Law School; she spent over four decades serving the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit with dedication and integrity. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched throughout her career.

Similarly, Marilyn Jackson, who graced us with her presence for 87 years, left this world peacefully on April 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rome, Georgia, Marilyn’s life was one of service and kindness. Her memory is cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

    Creating Meaningful Tributes

    A celebration of life service for Debbie Lawrence was held at our funeral home on Sunday, August 7, at 3 p.m., following visitation from 1 p.m. It was a time for family and friends to come together, share stories, and honor her remarkable contributions to the community. An interment followed at Lafayette Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, Debbie’s family kindly requested that memorial gifts be sent to Lafayette First Baptist Church—a testament to her faith and commitment to giving back.

    For Marilyn Jackson, a funeral service was held in the chapel of our funeral home at 2 p.m. on a designated date, with an interment taking place at Lafayette Cemetery. Her family invited mourners to celebrate her life and reflect on the impact she made during her time with us.

    Honoring Veterans and Community Leaders

    James “Jimmy” Gilreath, a proud 74-year-old resident of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away on June 17, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mary Lou Gilreath, Jimmy’s life was marked by service and devotion. Likewise, Jimmy Edward White, a beloved 76-year-old Lafayette resident, passed away on August 29, 2023. A member of Waterville Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army, Jimmy’s passion for life included cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers.

    Kevin LeRoy Walker, at the young age of 55, left behind a wife, Melanie, daughters Haley and Katilen, brothers John, Douglas, and Shane Vinyard, along with several nieces and nephews. His passing on January 30, 2023, left a void in the hearts of many. In times like these, we aim to provide unwavering support to families navigating the complexities of loss.

    Stanley Rayfield Hicks, a 72-year-old Ringgold resident, passed away on January 28, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Hicks and Leotta Marie Cross Hicks, Stanley’s life was celebrated during a visitation held at Cassandra Baptist Church in Chickamauga, Georgia. Pastor Glenn Roberts officiated the service, bringing comfort to those who gathered to remember him.
